Do you have a shop?
In short, no. I work from home in my garden studio, which is not open to the public. All orders should be placed online through the website. Contactless collection can be available on request.
Do you do craft fairs or events?
Usually, yes! Although I try to limit the amount I do, otherwise I'd be working 7 days a week!
Keep an eye on our social media pages for any upcoming events.
Where can I buy your products from?
All our items can be purchased through the website, or if online's not your thing, you can visit one of our stockists.
How can I order from your website?
Just add the items you'd like to your basket and go to your 'Cart' to pay. We accept card payments, as well as PayPal.
We are unable to take payment over the phone or via email. (Don't forget to use the code MERSEA to qualify for free delivery if you are on Mersea Island). You can even create your own account to make it easier when you re-order!
How long will my order take to arrive?
It's just me here at 'The Shack' so all your orders are made, packaged and sent out by my own fair hands! I aim to have them in the post (or delivered if on Mersea) within 5 days, however it is usually quicker! Occasionally there may a longer wait, if it is a large order or if it's around Christmas. I aim to keep our shipping time updated!
If your order is needed for a specific date, please let me know in the notes box at the checkout and I will do my best to accommodate.
Orders are sent Royal Mail 2nd Class, and a tracking number will be sent to you with your 'Notice of Dispatch' email.
How much do you charge for postage?
Postage prices start at £1.50 for smaller items, but are usually £3. This is what is costs us to post via Royal Mail. All the packaging is supplied for free. Orders with a Mersea Island address are free with the code MERSEA.
What packaging do you use?
Your orders will be sent out completely plastic free, using cardboard boxes, brown paper tape, tissue paper, brown packing paper and shredded paper.
Our products within the boxes are wrapped in brown paper, tissue paper, coffee filters, aluminium tins or glassine bags. Glassine bags are made from wood pulp and are completely recyclable. They're not plastic - don't panic!
Where do you post to?
We currently only cover the UK, as this is all our insurance is set up for. Please contact us if you would like to place an order from elsewhere - if we get enough interest, we will look into upgrading our policy!
Can you provide your items for my event?
Yes! We have provided our 20g soaps as wedding favours, Christmas gift boxes for staff members, corporate gifts and bath bombs for party bags in the past! Please contact us regarding a custom order! We're happy to provide customised stickers too!
Can you customise my order?
Within reason, yes! There are strict rules about the labelling of products, which means certain information has to appear on them. But as long as we can fit this on, we are happy to feature your message/logo! This usually involves your information on the front and ours on the back, but we're happy to discuss options with you.
Please visit our Custom Orders page for more information.
Do you sell your products wholesale?
Yes! Please contact us for our wholesale catalogue and order form, or find us on Faire! Wholesale orders take up to 2 weeks to dispatch, with a minimum order of £80.
Are your products suitable for my skin?
I am in no way a medical professional, and cannot make claims for my products. But each item has it's ingredients listed along with their properties. They have proved very effective for sensitive skin and some skin complaints. A full list of ingredients and their properties can be found on our Ingredients page. Our products contain only natural ingredients.
Are your products suitable for children?
My products have been cosmetically assessed to be suitable for adult use. Any use on children under the age of 3 is entirely at parents own risk. Again, please consult the list of ingredients to check for any allergies.
Can germs live on bars of soap?
No! Soap is an alkali, meaning no germs can survive on them. You can pass it from person to person, without transferring germs. They also clean your skin without stripping it's natural acid mantle, which helps skin to protect itself from bacteria. The action of rubbing the bar over your hands to create foam, also removes germs.
Do you use preservatives in your items?
No! The saponification process means your soap is safe to use for years to come without any nasty extras. There are no parabens, SLS or any other 'extras' added, just high quality natural ingredients.
How long do your products last?
Most of our products come with a 'Period After Opening' symbol, giving you an idea of how long they will be effective for. We use essential and fragrance oils in our products, and their fragrance will diminish over time, but the item itself will still work just as well. The times listed on our items are general, and do not take into account the conditions in which you store them (for example in direct sunlight, or in a steamy bathroom etc). Bars of soap can keep for many years in a bathroom, whereas bath bombs should be used within a month of receiving them.
